Sleep Issues and Sleeping Tablet Addiction

Just wanted to let you know that I am feeling so much better these days. It was a really good session and the re-progamming is working. I certainly feel my 'unconscious' mind is in alot better shape and many other things are falling into place as well. It took nearly a week to get sleeping pattern better but I try to apply the theories you run through every day.
I went down to half a sleeping tablet in the middle of the night at first - and for the past two days I have slept all through the night with no sleeping tablets which feels absolutely fabulous. It was quite a struggle at first as I really had got into quite a deeply ingrained pattern of dependance on [Medication name] and I guess it is not easy to shift overnight but I feel I'm making good progress.

Better Sleep Sooner

I have slept like a baby since last Tuesday night, so that's now been 6 full nights of sleep! Hooray! So whatever you did has worked so thank you so much!!
Overall things have been much easier to manage as a result and the bags are also easing from my eyes which is always a bonus!

Sleeping and noises at night

Just an update for you as promised. Sleep is definitely better, thanks. The hypnotic language pattern is a beauty and I’ve also passed it on to a client of mine for sleep, and he’s also found it really helpful.

I realised the day after our session that when I heard noises in the night I often got a fright (basically a jumpy feeling in the tummy) so I used the strategy there too, which made a difference. I’m not really hearing the trains at my place now, just the occasional loud one – and that’s without ear plugs! Yippee.

Sleepless No More

As promised a few words on insomnia.

As you know it was a problem shared by my daughter and myself. Though she's only 12 she said she'd had trouble sleeping since she was five and now she rarely went to sleep before midnight.

I had also had trouble sleeping as a child though not as a teenager and young adult. My insomnia surfaced again when I had children and basically never left. I was so used to my mind spinning out at night I couldn't imagine any other state. I also travelled a lot for work and so added jet-lag to the mix. A fatal combination.

But it was seeing my 12-year-old daughter suffer from insomnia that prompted me to search out a new way of dealing with the problem. Obviously I didn't want drugs for someone so young. Nor had I sought them out for myself. I'd tried sleeping pills before and hated the drugged-out feeling the next day. Also I have to say my mind can counteract just about any sleeping pill. I never slept long enough any night to justify their use. I'd also tried herbal remedies and relaxation tapes at various times with little success.

To tell you the truth Aaron you were the last resort and thank goodness. We had just one session with you and now we're both sleeping like babies. Your solution seemed so simple I have to say I wondered if it would work. My daughter and I turned up for one session and you talked to us about sleep and our rhythms throughout the day. Everything you said made sense. Then you helped us 'reframe' sleep. In fact sleep was no longer the goal. This turned out to be the most liberating aspect of your treatment. We learned how to look forward to bed without putting pressure on ourselves to achieve sleep.

That night we both slept well and we've been sleeping well ever since. It's only been a week so far but a week of unbroken sleep was previously unheard of for both of us. I'm even beginning to feel that I can programme myself to sleep at will and I'm looking forward to seeing if this technique will help me counteract jet-lag. I'll let you know.

Naturally I feel sooo much better, have so much more energy and am so much better-tempered after a good night's sleep. I only wish I'd known about this technique when my children were small. Thanks so much for your help Aaron. It's such an intriguing technique I almost wish I could dredge up new problems you could help me with. I can't think of anything right now but if I do you'll hear from me.
